Sujeni
I’ve always found it really interesting when I meet new people who seem like they would be extraverts but are actually introverts.
Sujeni was one of these secretly introverted people I have met lately. When she reached out to me, she seemed as if she had done plenty of shoots before, so I was shocked when she told me it was actually her first time shooting with a real photographer. Talk about no pressure…
I was fairly confident we were going to get some great shots. I knew the location and knew exactly what poses we were going to shoot. Plus it’s hard to get a bad photo of Sujeni.
She arrived with a black dress and a few others on her arm. As we walked to the first location, she expressed how nervous she was and how she had never done a shoot before. So she brought 2 Truly’s to help her calm her nerves.
I told her to only drink one so her eyes don’t get bloodshot, that's a pain to remove on photoshop. She pounded the first drink, changed into the red dress and we began to shoot.
She was able to switch into her model phase fairly easily after this. We flew through poses with ease. I only showed her a few shots so she knew what style we were going for. I had the 1 soft box and the 50mm lens, which seems to be my go to set up lately. The photos came out really punchy thanks to the shade we were under. I knew there would be very little editing in post.
She had a few suggestions that we tried, but sadly the sun was really low to get good lighting in the background. We still got some amazing shots thought.
With music blaring from her phone, I could tell she was having just as much fun as I was. I really enjoy shoots with little pressure like these. Sujeni wasn’t picky with anything so I was free to experiment and try different things. Even after she changed into her yellow dress, she was ok with trying some of the same poses again just to see if the yellow gave the image a different feel, which it did
As soon as the sun hit the horizon we called it a day. We said our good byes and agreed to shoot again sometime in the near future. But with both of our busy schedules, that's going to be a lot more difficult than said.
