Sony Or Canon
What do you do on a perfect Saturday in California? You go out and take photos of course.
I have always heard that Canon produces the best colors. In fact, go on any camera forum and you will find thousands of debates on why the Canon Color Science is far superior to Sony’s.
Having shot both at different times, I honestly couldn’t really tell the difference. I was also a novice when I shot with Canon and barely learning about editing, so it’s not something I could easily pick up on.
But I have the rare opportunity of having both systems right now. I have a Canon 6D that a friend let me borrow and my Sony a6000. Although the 6D is a professional camera, the Sony still holds it’s own against it.
I decided to use the canon because the focus points would be a little too much for Karina to deal with. She took the Sony and pretty much just pointed and shot.
After some bribing, we convinced Alyza to be our model. The park we went to is a nice park we’ve been to hundreds of times and know very well. With the sun up high and the temperature being perfect, we began our 30 minute shoot.
The first thing I noticed was just how much more work in involved in taking a photo when you have to constantly be moving focus points. I ended up shooting a lot less photos than Karina because of that.
Before I even put the photos on the computer, I could already tell that I loved how the Sony rendered the images a lot better than the Canon. I had to confirm it by asking Karina for her opinion and she said the same. She said that the Canon somehow had fake color and the Sony’s colors were a lot more true.
There I something about the Combination between the a6000 and the 50mm 1.8 that renders colors and images so smooth and pleasing. The Canon also had some great shots, but I think it’s easy to tell which photos came out from the each camera. Specially the way the background is rendered on each is so different.
I might have to stick with Sony and get me an a7ii.
