Ericas 21st

As a last minute favor, I agreed to take photos of my friends sister. It was a small birthday party with costumes. All they needed me to do was set up a camera in front of scene they set up. I hand cut and superglued a soft box that my friend bought when he was trying to make a YouTube studio.

The flash I had was a basic entry level flash with double AA batteries. It doesnt even have TTL, so it’s all manual. I set up the camera and started desperately figuring out the setting on the camera and flash. I wasn’t sure how high I should push the ISO and wasn’t too sure how much ambient light to let it.

After about 20 minutes I found the settings and began to take photos of everyone. It was pretty fun and easy. I mean, just standing by the camera for about an hour was no fun, but seeing how happy people were while I took their photos was.

Once she cut the cake and danced, I took the camera off the tripod and moved the flash slowly to the cake. I for sure thought the flash was going to fall out at some point but the super glue held up.

If anyone was paying me for this, I think they would seriously question if I was an actual photographer just looking at how I struggled to set up the camera and looking at the superglue behind the soft box.
