Norma’s Family Portraits

Southern California has so many amazing parks located in every city, ranging from small parks with only a playset for the kids to big parks with lakes, ducks, and bridges.

Sadly, there are also a lot of parks that are worn down and aren’t ideal for someone to be walking around with expensive gear. We happened to choose a pretty horrible park to take photos this time.

Norma lived about 75 minutes away from me in the opposite direction of where I am most familiar with. She had been following my work for a while and was excited to hire me to take photos of her and her two boys.

After spending some time on Google Maps, I found a park that had a lake. I figured it would be a really good park based on the few photos I found online. It was far from nice.

The park had dead grass, trash all around, and a lot of sketchy people. To top it off, Norma was wearing a very nice dress, and people were constantly walking by her and ruining the photos.

At one point, someone kept circling around us whenever I would put my camera bag down. We decided to do the shoot as fast as possible and head out.

I didn’t get to take photos of everything I wanted, but we had to call it a day. Norma was creeped out after she took some portraits and some person kept passing by and staring at her.

The photos came out pretty good, though. She was extremely happy and scheduled another photo shoot for just portraits of her.
