Oklahoma

When I think of this state, I think of open fields and windmills. I feel like most of the state is nothing but this. The major cities are Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Even though both cities are so cool, they are not the first thing that comes to my mind.

There is a good community in the downtown area of Oklahoma City that is so welcoming and easy to navigate. With plenty of areas to park your car for FREE, you can go anywhere you want easily.

There is an outdoor area where they have live music, food trucks and drinks. Mainly beer. People come here every day to hangout and decompress. Everyone was so friendly, I didn’t see any arguments or anything bringing down the mood. There weren't even any security guards.

You can see the top of the skyline from this area. At sunset the skies turns pink, making a great background for the blueish buildings of the city.

It gets even more crowded on the weekends. But you can still find parking fairly easily. I walked for hours thought all the areas surrounding downtown. It seems like the city is even more lively in the weekends. It’s a great feeling.

Work hard play hard. That’s defining the name of the game here. Every hotel here has a boot cleaning tool where you pass your boot through to clean off all the dry mud.

Tulsa is cool too. The downtown area isn’t as big but it definitely is fun. There is a lot of karaoke bars here. Both outdoors and indoors. It seems as though everyone likes to sing here. It’s not as walking friendly as Oklahoma City but you can still get around fast enough.

I got to explore for a few days here and it seems like it’s more active at night, even on the weekends. Things are a lot more spread out, which means you have to drive a lot more.

Besides these 2 cities though, lots of landscapes and windmills make up the rest of the state. I took some photos but I couldn't get inspired to go search for something that looked uniquely Oklahoma. Green landscapes are a copy and paste for most states on this side of the country.
