Memphis
I had big plans this time around. I wanted to explore the city a lot more than I did the previous time I was in town. I had planned to go all over the city and photograph it.
Sadly my plans were cut short because of the weather and because there was a riot the 3rd day I was in town. I decided it wouldn’t be a good idea to go out and take my expensive camera while bad things were happening. Then I realized it was probably not a good idea to go out either.
I was lucky enough to get to explore the downtown area for dinner the previous days. It’s a nice downtown area that's perfect for walking around.
I parked my car close the Main Street and walked through the city for about 3 ours. There were a lot of people outside enjoying the sunset. The restaurants were all full of people. Took me a while to find one without a waiting time.
I got the Memphis pizza off this nice little restaurant. The pizza was delicious. It was fire roasted. I washed it down with a local IPA before I continued to walk the downtown area.
There's cobble stones through some streets that are made specifically for pedestrians. Once it got late though, I hoped on an electric scooter and rode it back to my car.
There was very little traffic. It made driving through the city so easy. The houses are the typical American bungalows. There was a lot of fairly recent construction too.
There was a lot of good things to do in this city. I managed to only do a handful but it was fun. I spent half a day looking for a Best Buy that had a lens since the 16-35 I had stopped working.
The only option available was getting the really expensive 16-35mm f2.8 that costs $2,000. I would have had to drive 3 hours to pick up the cheaper $900 lens, but I had clients waiting on me.
Maybe I’ll make it back here some day and explore a little more.
