Maria And Her Sunset

Pink is a very difficult color for me to process. If you add saturation to it, it can easily turn into a blotch of pink with no detail. That color falls apart so easily for me.

So when Maria showed up with a pink sweater, it made my heart skip a beat. I was already dreading the editing process.

But, oh boy was I wrong.

She arrived late, so we pretty much missed golden hour. The sun was barely touching the horizon by the time I finished setting up my flash. And since it had been windy, the flash fell down and the umbrella broke. I struggled to fix it because I was so nervous I was missing the last bit of sun.

Luckily I got it set up and I positioned her along the bridge. This was the perfect setup, the perfect minutes and the perfect colors. Something about the way the colors hit the sensor that made everything pop naturally, making one of my favorite photos of all time.

Thanks to California for keeping the sky colorful, even past the sunset.  We managed to squeeze a few more pictures around the park. Nothing as good as the first ones we took, but still worth the click of the shutter.

The shoot took about 25 minutes from the Hello! to the Good Bye!

Worth the stress…
