Helios And It’s Flares

When people say that some lenses have character, they usually bring up the Helios lens. It’s a small lens with some defects that give the images a unique look. Since it doesn't have a lens hood, shooting it anywhere close to the sun is a big No No.

But I wanted to play outside with it and the only people that aren’t tired of me and my camera are the children of my relatives. So I began to snap photos with the sun behind them. It being a manual focus lens, focusing while the sun is causing all kinds of different effects on the lens is really difficult. And to add to that, the kids constantly moving is another factor.

Luckily I managed to get enough photos in focus that are able to show how beautiful the flares in this lens are.

Maybe next time I will take photos of people who aren’t moving as much…
