Coco

Taking photos in Las Vegas any day that doesn’t fall in that short beautiful part of spring or fall is risky. There are so many days where the sun beams down on you and even though you don’t feel the heat, standing in the sun for a few minutes is enough to make your body feel the burning feeling of the sun.

We knew this going into the shoot. Even though the park we chose to shoot at had a lot of shade, if you were in contact with the sun for a few minutes, you would start sweating.

So we tried to stay in the shade up until the sun hit the horizon.

We took a lot of great photos in and out of the shade. The flash really came through and made beautiful light on Coco. I shot everything with the 85mm lens to get some nice compression.

There was a lot of tree branches as background and I wanted them to fill the frame. I thought about using the Helios so I could get a really interesting background, but we weren’t close enough to the trees to get the frame filled with that lens.

Even the few photos we purposefully shot with dappled light came out great. The soft box rendered skins tones really beautifully and produced some great punchy colors.

The sun hit some trees in the background towards the end of the shoot and it made them glow. It was the perfect scenario for images and I’m glad we got a chance to shoot today.
