Alyza pt. 2 - Composition + Bokeh
This was a really quick practice lesson. We had 30 minutes to shoot before the sun went down. But of course we stopped by to get some boba first.
I wanted Alyza to focus on composition again, but this time keeping the sun in mind as well as the effects that bokeh can produce. This would help her learn how to manipulate it.
She went down on the ground and took a few photos of a seed from a tree that was in the middle of the walkway, then she took a photo from a higher angle and that made her understand what bokeh was and how to use it.
It was nice seeing it click in her head.
A security guard told us we couldn’t photograph in that area. I talked to him about it and he told us that we can technically shoot here, but we can't use it for commercial use. So he left us alone.
Still, we were losing sun so we walked around a little more and shot some random stuff that Alyza found interesting.
I let her see how the sun affects contrast and light on people as well. She took some portraits of me and I took some of her to demonstrate composition, lighting and bokeh.
I think next time I will let her use a manual lens so she can manipulate the bokeh with her hand and get an even better understanding of it.
