Annabel
Some people are just born with that instinct to model, and Annabel is one of them.
Her mom reached out to me on Instagram. She is a local and her daughter Annabel was going to be in town for a few weeks. As a gift to her, she wanted to give her a photo shoot. This would be her very first photo shoot.
We meet up at a local area around sunset. Since it was a surprise, there wasn’t much discussion between em and Annabel first. Her mom made sure she was dressed nicely and had her make up done though.
We chatted for a bit and she said she was ready for the shoot. She was excited and anxious. I set up my flashes and explained to her how it was going to go. We took a few portraits first and then continued with some full body shots.
I ended up only using the 85mm lens for the shoot. I was prepared to shoot with the 35mm a lot more, but we were really into the shoot and I had enough space to work with the longer focal length.
Annabel was a natural with the posing and her facial expressions. I gave her very minimal direction at the beginning of every new composition. She knew what were her best angles and the best poses that complemented her body the best.
The sun began to set and the area we were at got dark really quick. Even though the sun was still out, our area was dark. We ended up with a few cool shots with the sun in the background and those were among my favorite.
Before I packed everything, I offered to take a few photos of her with her mom so they had a photo together of the special occasion.
Annabel was moving to Chicago in a few weeks so I was never going to see her again, but she said if she ever came back to Vegas, she would hire me to shoot her again. She is going to pursue modeling full time in Chicago as soon as she and her mom move out there.
She’s a good connection to have.
