Alexandra’s Family Maternity Shoot

It had been a very long time since I had done a maternity shoot. I considered marketing to pregnant women for their maternity photos on my time off from work. I figured I could have some photo shoots set up when I returned back from a trip.

So when I met Alexandra and offered her a free shoot, she was happy to help me out to be my model, along with her family.

We met up at a local park by their house. It was a bright day so my flash was not going to help me out much. I was being thrown out of my comfort zone and I was a bit unsure about how I’d be shooting. But I had to figure it out on the spot.

What really helped me out was that the whole family was extremely photogenic. We went through a lot of poses real quick. I tried to keep them in the shade but that was not really helping out, the background was still extremely overexposed.

So I decided to just shoot natural light for the rest of the photos. It is something that I need to practice on editing anyway. And since it was a free shoot, I didn’t have a lot of pressure. But the editing ended up being pretty easy.

I did get to use the flash and soft box at the end with Alexandra and her daughter in the shade. The images look way different.

In the end, we all were happy with the photos and the practice was great as well.
