Teresa

Our goal was just to make 3 great images that Teresa would use for her walls. It was going to be 2 photos of her and one of her with her son. Her daughter couldn’t make it and because of my travels, I wouldn’t be able to reschedule before she needed the images.

It was a basic 2 light set up. Using a soft box and the 50mm stopped way down, I knew I would be able to get the exact images she wanted.

I took a few of her and then her of her with her son. I knew I got the shot she wanted within the first 3 shots I took of them.

We were pretty much done after 5 minutes. She asked whether we could try something more “cool” and I agreed. I had my light bar and she said she was going to change her shirt. I set up the light and changed the white balance on my camera and got a 2 color tone on her.

She posed a bit and then I directed her. She had never taken any professional photos standing up so she felt a bit awkward.

I guided her through a few poses and showed her the results. She was extremely happy. I took a few more with the soft box and then we ended our shoot.

Editing was a bit more difficult. Sometimes the canon colors are really good, but sometimes they give off too much orange. It’s like the camera struggles to render skin-tones when there is a flash and ambient light. Whites are never really white.

It could just be the lens but it’s a pain to edit photos sometimes.

Regardless, we were all satisfied with the photos. I sent them over right away and she had them printed out by the next evening.
