Pumpkin Patch 2018

Take it from me, the best time to go to a pumpkin patch is an hour before the sunset. During that golden hour, the sun bathes everything in a golden yellow light. Amplifying all the oranges and even browns that the patch is full of, it makes for a beautiful scene.

Like every other year, we start by getting the over priced tickets for the games. The games are alway the same, decently fun with a little stuffed animal as a reward. In most patches, you can go through all the games within 20 minutes without rushing. Somehow, it’s fun enough that you eagerly await doing it though.

And of course, you can't leave the Pumpkin Patch without having some of its overpriced food. It’s never about the quality of the food, it’s mainly about the experience and tradition.

Alyza, being a kid, loves traditions. Every year is the same routing. She dresses up in her costume and walks around the patch with the biggest smile imaginable.

With her costume being orange this year, it lent to the saturated colors of the patch. As the sun began to set, her costume glowed along with the rest of the patch. Getting compliments left and right, she smiles and carries onto the next booth.

There's just something wonderful about how the patch begins to light up as the glow from the sun begins to wear off. It’s a happy feeling that's difficult to explain.

The last thing to do now is choose the perfect pumpkin. Most people look through the whole patch before they choose theirs, but not Alyza. Within the first minute, she has chosen her pumpkin and before we know it. We are paying and walking out.

As we walk through the dirt and dust, more and more people flood the patch. Avoiding the crowded mess and long lines is a big win in my book.

Up next, getting some real food like In n Out
