Lee’s Grungy Look

Black and White is not my strength in photography. It’s something I have always struggled with. There's a whole different mindset involved in shooting black and white and I have not spent enough time working with it to get the feel for it.

But Lee and I intended to shoot something in black and white with some what of a grunge feel. She work a crop top with some blue jeans, black books and a really cool hat. She had her leather jacket as a cool accessory as well.

I placed her in form of a white wall since she had a lot of dark colors and that would make her really pop out.

I set up 2 lights but ended up making one really dim and primarily using the big soft box on her. This was enough to give us some incredible images.

Once we set up the light and the distance from it, all we had to do was work on posing. We had so many great images that it was incredibly difficult to stop taking photos. It was going to be really difficult to only choose a few photos from all the photos I shot. I almost filled up my memory card.

Lee is such a natural too. With her huge smile and striking features, poses came natural to her. Pretty much any shot we took came out looking great.

At some point I changed it up and tried some silhouette photos and they also came out looking great.

Editing then was even easier. Just a few things I had to clone out from the wall and a few crops and I was done. The light was perfect and everything was straight from the camera.

We spent a lot longer than we had planned for but we were just having so much fun that it was really hard to stop.

Eventually we had to thought. I gave her a few photos before she left since they were pretty much ready as is. She was extremely happy with the photos. She had so much fun that she forgot she had an outfit change.

Maybe next time…
