El Paso, Texas

I knew this place was a bit sketchy. It’s an old run down city with a lot of people. Since it’s next to the border, there's a lot of patrols and a lot of people who don’t want to even look at you. Everyone tries to keep to themselves no matter where you are.

I got a hotel away from the city though, I did not want to deal with traffic and loud city noises, by which there is a lot of. Constant loud music, sirens and people just screaming. The homeless and people with mental health far too much here. It’s really sad to see.

Out outside of the city there is a lot of old abandoned buildings. Sometimes you even find blocks of abandoned houses. It’s like if the whole neighborhood just got up and left.

The sandstorms are insane. They would come in within a matter of minutes and blanket the whole area with dust. I had it wear goggles to see outside. Goggles which you can buy at any liquor store at the east and south side of the city for an exorbitant amount.

It does produce a very moody somewhat scary ambiance though. Shooting some lights with the camera, it looks as though if it was fog, but it’s just dust.

You have to dust your clothes off before you get into your home and shower every single time you are out in the sandstorm or else you run the risk of having sand all over your bed.

On the days where it rained, I went up to the mountains on the west side of the city. I got stuck up there for a bit but I pulled over as viewpoint and took photos as soon as the storm stopped.

By the way, it rained pretty much the whole time I was here. There were only a few days it didn’t. It did make for some interesting skies though.

I drove to the boarder of New Mexico where the mountains are and took some photos there. I was expecting there to be some interesting things but didn’t really find anything.

You take a road that loops around the mountain with no places to stop. When you finally reach the intersection of a highway that can take you to back to El Paso through the mountains, there is a small city where people stop to gas up. This city is falling apart. It’s so old and it looks abandoned. I took some photos of it, but it just looked like some boring ass buildings.

There wasn’t much for me to do this time around. I had no plans to explore downtown anymore than I had to for some jobs that I had.

I was happy to hop on the plane and leave the rain and dust.
