210mm

Typically when I go on a photo walk I tend to stick with a wide angle lens. Maybe I’ll go with the 50mm but I tend to like the wide angle lens the most for random walks. I feel that shooting wide you’re able to get more of the location.

To change things up, I decided to use the 210mm lens. I have had a love hate relationship with this lens. Every time I throw it on the camera, I get some unique photos, but it’s very difficult to use. It’s really only a lens outdoors. The few times I used it indoors was a mess. Theres not enough light going through the lens and shooting at it’s 75mm is pointless since I have a 50 with a 1.8 aperture.

Even though the sun was going down soon and we’d be in the shadow most of the time, I figured I would still be able to get some sharp images even if I had to increase the ISO. Which I had to fairly soon on our walk.

But even so, the images came out incredible. Alyza had a yellow Pikachu beanie and it just popped out of the photos. The compression allowed her to be separated from background but yet still have the background visible.

The only drawback was that I had to be a lot farther away from Alyza so I’d have to ask her to ride way ahead of me. I noticed a lot more things on the mountains and on the city that I never had before from my plain eyesight.

Sadly, as soon as the sun hit the horizon, the lens just couldn’t perform anymore.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected.
