New Jersey

As I approach the city the skies got cloudy and grey. I had gotten a hotel close to that beach and I had planned to explore it but because of the rain I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to do much exploring today.

So my next plan was to go and check out the bars.

I parked on First Street in Atlantic Heights. Checked out a couple of breweries and bars. They were all unique and really cool. One bar had a green beer that everybody seemed to be enjoying, so I decided to try it. It was OK.

I had fun talking to the locals and everyone seemed to be nice.  Seems like everybody was shocked that I was from California. I guess they all expect people from California to act like the Kardashians because that’s one of the first things that everyone always asks me about. To their surprise, I know almost nothing about them.

The next couple days were a lot better. It was cloudy, but not raining. I decided to go and get some pizza. After a bit of googling I decided to try one that was close to the Union Beach. It seemed as if it was the one that everyone kept talking about in all of the forms I read.

As I got there, it started raining, so I was happy that I could eat inside. I ordered the pizza and I waited for about 20 minutes. The restaurant seemed as if it was at least 50 years old. It wasn't as nice cozy as you’d expect, but it was still nice to be in.

The pizza was really good. A size small ended up being a lot bigger than most places so I had a lot of leftover. The pizza will be gone by the end of the night, though, as soon as I got back to the hotel, I warmed up the couple of leftover pieces and I ate them.

There was still a bit of rain, but I decided to drive around. The roads are a lot different from I am used to back home or in any other state that I’ve been in. Thank goodness for Apple Maps.

The following day I finally went to the beach. The beaches here are not that nice. The sunsets though are amazing.

It’s hard to compare any beach to the California beaches, at least in the US. They’re all unique in their own ways but I still don’t think there is nice.

I brought my tripod with me so I took a couple of pictures of the sunset. Since the sun sets on the west, I’m used to seeing the sun set over the beach, but since the sun does not set on the beach here, the colors that the sky has here are way different from the ones in California.

I struggled a bit to adjust the white balance, but I decided to focus more on capturing the light. There weren't many things to take pictures of besides the waves in the sky.

Once it got dark, I started walking back through First Street again. Took a few pictures of the buildings, but I was more focused on getting back to my car since it was dark and I don’t know how to save this area was.

On my last day, I knew I had a checkout the Kevin Smith’s store in Red Bank, New Jersey. It ended up being a lot nicer than I expected it to be. I explored the area for about an hour or two before I decide to get back in the car and drive off.

New Jersey is really cool state.
