Lemon Festival 2023

This is the first year that we didn’t get sun for the lemon festival. Even more so, we got a bit of rain on one of the days. Because of the gloomy skies, all of the vibrant colors that are present in the festival didn’t really pop. Sadly, all of the bright saturated colors felt dull.

But we didn’t let that affect us. Lin and I showed up with high hopes of taking some good photos and videos for Beat Box. We started out with Avril’s pink lemonade. It was dangerously good. After doing a few rounds and checking out the other beat box booths, I uploaded some videos and we were free to explore the festival.

The food was great as always. Tacos were a bit overpriced but they were delicious. This year they had some fruit drinks with Tajin sprinkled around the rim of the cup which added a little bit of spice to the sweet fruit drink. It made it even more delicious.

The games are the usual ones you’d find in any festival, except this year luck was on our side. We all won stuffed animals after a few tries. After promptly giving them some witty names, we decided to quit while we were ahead with our luck and move on from the games.

The cold did nothing to stop people from coming and having a great time. Nothing was more proof than the long lines for the rides. It was a 30-minute wait for the Ferris wheel and by the time we were seated and secured, the rain came down on us. A light sprinkling of water and wind made the first couple of loops scary and very cold. By the time we slowed down, we were all happy the ride was over.

We got some treats while we waited for the Beatles cover band to come on stage. They were 30 minutes late and the temperature was dropping so we decided to leave after a few songs.

Regardless of the cold and gloomy skies, it was still a fun experience. I’m looking forward to next year's Lemon Festival and I’ll be hoping we get better weather.
