Jocelyn’s And The Red Bricks
Cloudy days aren’t as common on this side of the world, so we tend to never plan for them. But when they do occur, the temperature only drops a few degrees, so it’s not really an inconvenience.
But for photo shoots, it can be a bit of a hassle. Planning for bright skies and getting cloudy ones ruins the entire vibe of the shoot, so you have to improvise.
And that's exactly what we did.
On last-minute notice, Jocelyn agreed to do a quick 20-minute photo shoot. We agreed on going for a little on the dark tone.
With the clouds providing a darker ambiance, having a softbox made Jocelyn pop from the environment. I made sure to underexpose the ambiance by 2 stops and expose the flash for Jocelyn. With that combination, we got some really interesting results.
Jocelyn was a bit nervous since it was her first time taking photos, and there were a few people passing through the little alleyway we found, but she still managed to get comfortable towards the end of the shoot and get some striking images.
The brick walls matched perfectly with the black clothing she was wearing, giving us some moody images overall.
