Celebrating Cuauhtémoc

Pride is one of those qualities that brings up different emotions to every person. It’s a trait that has a very thin line between it being a good thing or being detrimental to ones character. It has led people to do both great things and bad things.

But one thing we all should have is pride in our heritage. Knowing about our ancestors can give you some clarity about whom you are. It can provide some answers as to why we do the things we do in our communities and families.

Questions like where we come from, why we eat foods a little different from others and why some of our words only make sense to us? There is history behind all of these things. Some stories are really interesting and the only way to keep them alive is to pass them one from generation to generation.

The Aztec culture is sown into every fiber of Mexico. From words, to food and to designs that have influenced clothing and architecture, it’s easy to spot the influence that the Aztec culture has had.

Which is why sharing this beautiful culture with our people as well as other people is so important. Some of our people haven’t been properly taught about our heritage, some have been born in the states where the Aztecs are just a small chapter in a book full inconsistency.

It’s why during this time the Cuauhtémoc Aztec group likes to do a celebration to show thanks to Cuauhtémoc. Giving thanks for starting the group, sharing stories to keep inspiring one another. Stories of courage to stand up for our people during hard times. Stories of spreading love and kindness and paving a path to a better tomorrow for the children.

Dressing up in their proper attire, regardless of the weather conditions, they all formed their makeshift circle and began to perform dances that have been passed down through more generations that we can count.

And even though this event was small compared to other years, everyone took it just as serious. The term dancing for rain seemed to fit just fine this time.

After the dancing was over, everyone gave thanks out loud for things in their lives. Then everyone ate and chatted. Catching up on everyones current life while enjoying the company.

Another successful year had passed by.
